This pattern is made with a 10mm crochet hook.
Chunky Merino/Alpaca mix wool has been used for this pattern.
Other chunky and soft yarn would work just as well. Just make sure it matches a 10mm hook to get the correct size.
It is a very easy to follow pattern with hdc being the main stitch.

Now to get this lovely curved edge around the Coat. Break yarn and weave in all ends.

Hdc in back loop across collar.

(12,sts) Repeat row 1-2 until sleeve measures approx. (12inches). Making sure to end with row 2 worked last. Break yarn leave a tail long enough to seam up the sleeve.

Turn sleeves inside out and seem with a whip stitch (or preferred stitch)

Turn right side out and fold over cuff to desired size (I have folded 1.5 inches).

Add button by lying sleeve flat and using the seam underneath to guide the middle of top of sleeve. Sew button through all layers to secure cuff.

Fold over the collar and add two buttons 1 inch apart on the left edging just under the point where the collar folds.

You can of course add just one button or more all the way down. The spacing between the hdc stitching will work as button holes.

All done!!

Hi, I wondered why 2 consecutive rows say WS? Thank you?

    • Peanut and Plum says:

Hi Diane, sorry this must be a typo, please just continue alternating between RS and WS as you normally would do, thanks for heads up!

    Hi again Emma

I’m hoping to make this for my nephew as a little peter rabbit type jacket, so don’t want it to be as long. What length would you recommend stopping at? I wouldn’t be changing the size/age the coat is designed for, just the length. I’m thinking it should stop somewhere about hip height. Thank you in advance 😊 Charlie x

    Hi there

I’m a little confused with the main body. There’s a row 1 then row 2 then row 2 again? Then it says to repeat rows 2&3 until the coat measures 9 inches.then you say if you want it longer to repeat rows 1&2? Please can you clarify? I’m assuming the second row 2 was meant to say row 3 as it switches back to (RS). I just need to know if I repeat 1&2 or 2&3 because they are different instructions. Thank you, and thank you for sharing your beautiful pattern. Charlie x

      Hi Charlie,

Thank you so much for pointing that out. I will amend it.
Yes, it’s supposed to say row 3 and you repeat rows 2&3.

  • Steph says:

    Hi!
In the coat body section, repeat row 2-3...there seems to be no row 3? Is it the second row 2?

Thanks so much for your help!

    • Peanut and Plum says:

Hi, yes it is. I need to amend this. Thanks

  • Debbie O'Hagan says:

Hi. Is the pattern us US of UK format. A size 10mm crochet hooks seems very big ??

    Many thanks

    • Peanut and Plum says:

Hi, it is written US terms.
You will use a 10mm hook as pattern is made with super chunky yarn.
      Thanks
      Emma

Hi there, it's a long time since I crocheted! With the WS and RS is that just to remind me what side I am on or do I have to not turn the work to remain on the WS, I'm referring to the body section second and third row? Many thanks.

    • Peanut and Plum says:

Hi, yes it’s a guide really to show you are on track. If there are markers in place etc to check you are working correct row.
      Thanks
      Emma

  • Hayley says:

Hi there. I'm fairly new to crochet so forgive me if this is a simple answer haha. How do you work the (7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 17 hdc) in the body section?

    • Peanut and Plum says:

Hi, this was a typing error. Thanks for pointing out to me. I have edited for you! Thanks Emma

  • Amy says:

Hi, so I already messed up and I am just finished row 5 so a frogging we will go. lol... but when moving the stitch marker do I place it in the start of the 2nd increase? I put it in the last of the increases and now I am super off center.

    • Peanut and Plum says:

Hi, you will place the marker in the first stitch of the increase (directly above the marked stitch of previous row).
      Hope this helps.

      Thanks
      Emma

The link to buy the pattern doesn't work. Where can I buy it?

    • Peanut and Plum says:

Hi, thanks for letting me know. It should be working ok now.

  • Joyce Crews says:

The pattern seems to be missing the instruction for Row 1 of the Sleeve Space.
